Optics of Quantum Materials

JoeandJamieThe goal of the Orenstein group is to deepen our understanding of new materials by studying how they interact with light, focusing on systems whose properties don’t fit within Fermi liquid theory. In pursuit of this goal, we have developed and applied advanced optical methods. Using these techniques, we are uncovering new phenomena in high-Tc superconductors, multiferroics, and correlated electron systems with strong-spin orbit interaction.
